First Coral Tables
Construction begins on Marenum's first coral tables in Dili, designed for transport to Atabae with environmentally friendly steel construction.
Marenum Pte Ltd has started building their first coral tables in Dili, with plans to transport them to their site in Atabae. This development represents a crucial step forward in our coral cultivation infrastructure.
Technical Specifications: The tables are approximately 0.8m wide by 1.8m long and constructed with a rebar grid framework. The steel-based design is specifically chosen to be environmentally friendly and completely avoid microplastic pollution that could harm marine ecosystems.
Construction and Deployment Plan: - Build up to ten tables in the initial phase - Transport completed tables from Dili to Atabae site - Source coral seedlings with assistance from local marine experts - Develop inventory and technical capacity for sustainable operations
Our construction approach prioritizes durability and environmental compatibility. The rebar grid design provides stable attachment points for coral fragments while allowing natural water flow and marine life movement.
Future Local Production: We envision eventually producing tables locally in Atabae after hiring and training local team members. This approach will create employment opportunities while building local capacity for marine conservation efforts.
The organization remains committed to environmental conservation through careful, sustainable coral cultivation techniques. Each table is designed to become a thriving mini-ecosystem that supports both coral growth and marine biodiversity.
This project represents the practical implementation of our coral permaculture vision - creating sustainable marine habitats that benefit both conservation goals and local communities.
